Thats funny. I was born and raised in Texas, but my parents are canadian so I only ever heard this word at home but I still called them gonch or gonchies. I wanted to see why no one else ever says it except my family (at least down here). I never knew it was just a Canadian thing!
Gonch is actually Alberta and British Columbia. I hear that east of those provinces they use the term "gotch". I like Gonch or Gonchies better....just funnier sounding.
